Audi’s Quattro AWD System is Designed to be Gripping

While many automakers offer intelligent all-wheel drive systems, their approach is based on commonality. That means that two models may have identical versions. But that’s not the case with Audi’s Quattro system. Every version is different, and tuned to the mission of that specific model to offer legendary performance and traction.

The mission of Quattro is quite simple—directing power to the wheels that need it most. You can get it in two flavors—the standard Quattro, or with ultra. The latter is based on the same philosophy, but powers cars in front-wheel drive until the rear wheels are needed. Otherwise, torque is directed to the axles or wheels that need it most to help keep the car or crossover composed either off-road, or in inclement weather conditions. Available on every Audi model, it’s the best way to stay in command—and have fun doing it.
